PROGRAM

DAY 1

We’ll be greeted by our local guide and transferred to our hotel in Jounieh for check-in and a well-deserved rest. After just a few hours of sleep, we’ll wake up and enjoy breakfast around 8:00–8:30 AM, before setting off toward Baalbek, a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site, to explore, together with our local guide, the monumental ruins of the Temples of Jupiter, Bacchus, and Venus. We’ll learn everything there is to know about these impressive architectural wonders and the historical significance of these ancient sites. Get ready to capture stunning photos of the ruins surrounded by breathtaking scenery. After Baalbek, we’ll head to Anjar, where the ruins from the Umayyad period await us. We’ll discover the site’s unique grid layout, the remains of the palace, and the central square as we visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site (listed since 1984). We’ll enjoy a delightful cultural walk through the town, visit the local museum and art gallery, and even explore a bat cave nearby. (Don’t forget your trekking shoes!) We’ll then return to the hotel for a short refresh and rest, and later, optionally, we can go out for dinner at a Karaoke Pub in Gemmayze or another similar lively spot.

DAY 2

After breakfast, we’ll depart for Harissa, the spiritual heart of Lebanon. We’ll experience a memorable journey as we visit the iconic statue of Our Lady of Lebanon, made of 15 tons of bronze, standing 8.5 meters high with a diameter of 5 meters. From its base, we’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding coastal cities. Our next destination is Byblos, a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site since 1984. Our adventure begins with a visit to this historic city, where ancient history comes to life among archaeological wonders and charming streets. We’ll explore the well-preserved remnants of past civilizations — including Phoenician ruins, Roman structures, and Crusader fortifications. We’ll wander through the atmospheric alleys lined with old shops, traditional cafés, and skilled artisans, immersing ourselves in the city’s vibrant culture. After lunch, we’ll head to Akoura for a speleological expedition — a deep dive into the mysterious underground world. Equipped with specialized gear, we’ll follow expert speleologists as we venture into fascinating caves adorned with intricate stalactites and stalagmites. We’ll explore hidden chambers and echoing caverns that reveal the mysteries of ancient rock formations. After enjoying the coolness of the caves, we’ll have the option of an exciting ATV tour with a guide through the majestic Akoura mountains. We’ll travel across rugged terrain, climbing to scenic viewpoints that offer breathtaking panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscapes. Capture stunning photos and create lasting memories of this mountain adventure. Those who prefer a more relaxed experience can take a peaceful walk through these enchanting areas, admire the picturesque mountain lakes, and enjoy a coffee at one of the local cafés. We’ll return to the hotel for relaxation and rest.

DAY 3

Right after breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set out toward the Chouf region. Our first stop will be Deir el-Qamar. Walking through this charming village means admiring the pride of its monuments — once the city of emirs — and glimpsing Lebanon of days gone by from one of the most beautiful squares in the Middle East. The narrow cobblestone alleys lined with traditional Lebanese houses add to the picturesque charm of the place. Once the capital of the Mount Lebanon Emirate, the village of Deir el-Qamar has been classified as a national historic monument since 1945 and, together with the Beiteddine Valley and Palace as well as the Barouk Cedars, has been nominated for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We’ll visit Moussa Castle and other remarkable landmarks that offer a window into the past. Our next stop will be Beiteddine, where we’ll explore the Beit ed-Dine Palace, a masterpiece of Lebanese architecture featuring intricate mosaics and beautifully decorated reception halls. We’ll wander through its serene courtyards, filled with elegance and grace, capturing the essence of Lebanon’s rich cultural heritage. We’ll then continue to Barouk, where we’ll experience the authentic flavors of Lebanese cuisine with a delicious lunch at Farmville Barouk. The locals will spoil us with a feast of traditional dishes prepared from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, delighting us with their unmatched hospitality and warm atmosphere as we savor the true taste of Lebanon. After lunch, we’ll go on a scenic hike through the majestic Maaser El Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve. We’ll marvel at the towering cedars, some centuries old, and soak in the serene silence of the forest. Along the way, we’ll learn about the importance of preserving Lebanon’s cedar heritage and admire the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. We’ll return to the hotel in the evening, filled with the pure energy of the places we’ve visited, for rest and relaxation.

Day 4

After breakfast, we set out on the day’s adventure, beginning with a visit to the fascinating Jeita Grotto, a natural wonder that will leave us breathless. A boat ride along the underground river, gliding through caves illuminated by torches, will enchant us, immersing us in the captivating beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, we’ll embark on a historical journey to the Faqra ruins, where ancient civilizations once thrived. We’ll explore the remains of a Roman temple, a Roman theater, and other remnants of the past that testify to Lebanon’s rich history. Toward the end of the day, at Vignoble Joura, we’ll indulge in a delightful wine-tasting session at a premium winery, experiencing the distinct flavors of the region. We’ll interact with the winemakers, who will share insights into the complexity of winemaking and the art of pairing wine with food. Lunch will be enjoyed alongside the finest local wines. Optionally, those interested can try soap-making. We’ll return to the hotel to relax and rest, preparing for another day full of adventures.

DAY 5

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin the day with a leisurely exploration of Batroun, a coastal paradise known for its relaxed atmosphere and historic charm. We’ll explore the historic Phoenician wall, a testament to Batroun’s ancient heritage, and stroll through the timeless Old Souk, where local artisans display their crafts. We’ll admire the architectural beauty of St. Stephen’s Cathedral and discover the tranquility of Batroun Harbor, where colorful fishing boats glide gently on the waves. Leaving Batroun, we’ll head to the hidden gem of Lebanon — the village of Bchaaley, with its authentic rural Lebanese landscape. We’ll embark on a delightful hike along picturesque trails, surrounded by lush vegetation and colorful hills. We’ll capture the stunning scenery, preserving the beauty of the surroundings in our memories. Walking among olive trees, we’ll admire their gnarled trunks, silver leaves, and the emblem of history they carry. We’ll enjoy a picnic featuring a wide range of delicious Lebanese dishes — including Kebbe Naye and Arak. Next, we’ll continue to the charming coastal town of Anfeh, famous for its captivating salt pans and fairytale-like landscape. We’ll witness the fascinating process of salt extraction, gaining insights into its historical and economic significance in the region. After so many exciting experiences, those who wish can optionally relax on the beach in Batroun or Anfeh at Colonel Beer until sunset, before returning to the hotel.

DAY 6

After breakfast, we set off towards the Cedars of God, emblematic for the religious and historical identity of Lebanon. We step into the pages of history, through the very places where figures from the Holy Scriptures once walked, as we travel among the legendary Cedars of Lebanon, mentioned in ancient tales and sacred texts. It is said that the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem was built using cedar wood from this very forest. These woodlands are among the most majestic natural monuments on Earth, included in the UNESCO Natural World Heritage List. Some of the trees are over 3,000 years old, while others are a mere thousand — rising at altitudes of 2,000 meters, creating a mystical and awe-inspiring atmosphere. We immerse ourselves in the stillness of this sacred forest, where the echoes of time resonate among the towering giants, connecting us with millennia of stories. Filled with a sense of spirituality, we continue our journey into the world of the renowned poet, philosopher, and artist Gibran Khalil Gibran, often called the “Shakespeare of the Middle East.” We’ll explore his life and legacy, celebrated for his profound insights and poetic masterpieces that have touched hearts worldwide. Our spiritual path continues as we enter the Holy Valley – Qadisha Valley. Here we’ll discover hermitages and monasteries carved into the rock, inhabited since the 3rd millennium BC. We’ll venture into this valley — where silence can almost be heard — to visit the distinguished Monastery of Saint Anthony of Kozhaya, an architectural gem featuring intricate design, ancient frescoes, and a serene atmosphere that envelops this remarkable building. We’ll learn about the history and spiritual practices of the hermit monks who sought solace and devotion within these sacred walls. Those interested can optionally take part in a traditional painting workshop inspired by local spirituality and heritage. In the evening, we return to the hotel for rest. Optional dinner.

DAY 7

We enjoy breakfast at 8:00 AM and begin our day’s journey in the captivating city of Sidon, a seamless fusion of ancient wonders and modern life. Guided through its vibrant streets, we witness how remnants of past civilizations blend harmoniously with the present. We explore the imposing Sea Castle of the Crusaders, an architectural marvel guarding the coastline. We then admire the intricate Lebanese architecture of Khan al-Franj, a beautifully preserved old caravanserai. Next, we head to the village of Maghdouche, where we visit the Our Lady of Mantara Monastery, also known as “The Waiting Virgin,” a revered pilgrimage site overlooking the countryside. Our journey continues to Tyre, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, rich in history and ancient splendor. We explore the old Phoenician ruins, a living testament to the grandeur of this ancient civilization. Wandering through the charming Old Town, we stroll along cobbled streets revealing hidden archaeological treasures, inviting us to step back in time. A short, optional lunch break can be enjoyed here. The next stop is Eshmoun, an ancient healing sanctuary dedicated to the Phoenician god of health and fertility. We admire the well-preserved ruins, including a sacred temple and a beautiful pool shimmering with pure blue water, as we immerse ourselves in the mystical aura of this holy site. Together with our local guide, we’ll delve deeper into the rituals, beliefs, and historical significance that once flourished on Eshmoun’s sacred grounds. We return to the hotel for a short refreshment break and, optionally, head out for a relaxing dinner at a Karaoke Pub in Gemmayze.

DAY 8

After breakfast at the hotel, we set off on our day’s expedition, beginning in Tripoli, the northernmost port city of Lebanon. Our adventure starts at the majestic Tripoli Castle, an iconic fortress dating back to the Crusader era. We follow our experienced guide as we wander among the ancient walls that hold captivating tales of battles, conquests, and legends. We then dive into the vibrant atmosphere of the souks, where the heart of Tripoli beats with color, aromas, and traditional melodies. We’ll interact with local merchants as we uncover hidden treasures in this ancient market and embrace the city’s lively spirit. And don’t forget to bargain! After an optional lunch, we embark on a fascinating exploration of the rich history, culture, and modern charm of Beirut. Our knowledgeable local guide will lead us through the city’s lively districts, sharing engaging stories and anecdotes that paint a vivid picture of Beirut’s past and present. We’ll witness the harmonious blend of ancient landmarks and contemporary architecture as we visit iconic sites such as Martyrs’ Square, the Pigeon Rocks, and the Beirut Souks. We’ll then stroll through the charming streets of Gemmayze and Mar Mikhael, where traditional buildings adorned with colorful street art create a truly unique and artistic atmosphere. As evening falls, we prepare for our journey back home, taking with us unforgettable memories of Lebanon — a land where history, culture, and beauty intertwine.
