BE PART OF THE STORY!

Excelling as one of the most beautiful and untouched parts of the Arabian Peninsula, this little-known country is a fascinating destination where you’ll encounter lush valleys, ancient forts, and spectacular beaches at every turn. With such natural beauty, deep history, and a rich, centuries-old culture, it wasn’t hard for us to include Oman on our list of must-visit destinations.

Muscat, the capital of Oman, feels worlds apart from the glass-and-steel skyscrapers of its Emirati neighbors. Its ancient forts, markets, and mosques give the city a distinctly traditional and peaceful charm. From the serene coastal stretches of the sultanate lined with swaying palm trees to remote valleys leading up to rugged mountain peaks, the breathtaking landscapes form the backdrop to some of the region’s most remarkable historical sites. Moreover, human habitation in Oman dates back more than 10,000 years, making the people of this paradise justly proud of their long and storied heritage.

Considered the oldest Arab state and ranked 18th in the world by the American magazine Veranda among the most beautiful destinations to visit, Oman is the perfect place for travelers seeking generous hospitality, adventure, and culture — all woven into one unforgettable experience.

You may also try your hand at bargaining for silver handicrafts and beautiful scarves. Later, we will transfer into 4×4 vehicles and begin our adventure into the mountains. Our first stop will be Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the most beautiful canyons in Oman. NIZWA FORT – NIZWA SOUQ – BAHLA – JABREEN CASTLE – MISFAT AL ABRIYEEN – AL HAMRA – JEBEL SHAMS

LUNCH: OPTIONAL

TRANSPORT: COACH

INCLUDED MEALS: BREAKFAST & DINNER

HOTEL: SAMA AL KHUTAIM HERITAGE HOME **** (or lodge similar)

After an early breakfast at the hotel in Nizwa, our first stop will be the spectacular Nizwa Fort, known for its massive Circular Cannon Tower, one of the most impressive forts in Oman. We will also visit the traditional Nizwa Souq, a lively place ideal for experiencing authentic local life and culture. After exploring the fort and souq, we continue through Oman’s rugged and untamed countryside. Our journey takes us to Bahla, one of the oldest towns in Oman, dating back to the 12th century and once the capital of the local tribe. As the Bahla Fort is currently closed for renovation, we will make a photo stop only. Bahla is also famous for its traditional pottery. Next, we head to the Jabreen Castle, a beautifully restored palace where you can experience a medieval atmosphere, admire hand-painted ceilings, and see ornately carved wooden door frames. We then drive toward the old mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, dramatically set above terraced palm plantations — a rare sight in Oman, as most date palms grow on flat plains. Built over 300 years ago by nomadic tribes, this village offers a glimpse into a bygone way of life. Walking its winding paths feels like exploring a mountain oasis. You’ll stroll through gardens and pass ancient stone houses and a watchtower perched high on the cliff.

We continue to Al Hamra, the oldest mud-brick village in Oman, with traditional houses that are over 400 years old. Finally, we ascend to Jebel Shams — The Mountain of the Sun — the highest peak in Oman at 3,009 meters. The cooler temperatures and spectacular views of the Grand Canyon of Arabia will be a highlight of the trip. After a full day, we retire to our mountain lodge for the night. Sleeping at high altitude brings you closer to the stars.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will head to the village of Al Khutaim, the starting point for the famous Balcony Walk trail. The Jebel Shams Balcony Walk is a 4 km hike with an elevation change of approximately 200 meters. The trail begins at an altitude of 1,900 meters, along the edge of the Wadi Ghul Canyon, and descends to 1,700 meters. It’s a round-trip trail — meaning you hike to the end point and return the same way. The hike takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on how many photo and snack breaks you take. Later, the journey continues towards Wadi Bani Awf, on a spectacular and thrilling off-road drive across the mountains. Deep in the rural heartland of Oman lie many traditional villages that have preserved their heritage. Perhaps the most picturesque among them is Bilad Sayt, a tranquil hamlet nestled in the mountains. The route also passes by Nakhal Fort, a 17th-century stronghold that offers stunning views from its walls. Its strategic location highlights its historic importance, and the climb to the top is well worth the effort. After an immersive cultural day, it’s time to head back toward Muscat. In the late afternoon, we return to the capital.
